Google Buys Quicksee

Google has purchased Quicksee for $10 million. We can expect that there will soon be video walkthroughs of local businesses integrated into Google Places and Google Maps. This will be a great feature for researching local businesses and other locations. Google has already been sending photographers to local businesses for a few months now, to do basically the same thing – take pictures of the interior of the business in order to provide a picture walkthrough online. Videos will make this experience more user friendly and more detailed. However, we probably won’t start seeing these videos for a few months, since it’ll take a while for them to accumulate the videos and implement them into Places.

A good post on this new development could be found at Search Engine Land.
